Additional Information
Carolyn Pearce's masterpiece is suitable for embroiderers at all levels and will appeal to anyone who does any form of handiwork such as quilters or knitters whether as a bag to carry their materials or as a project to make. Inspirations Books are very pleased to be able to offer for the first time ever this amazing single project book - The Embroidered Village Bag.

Forming part of our new Designer Series - The Embroidered Village Bag has been created by world renowned Embroiderer Carolyn Pearce and is a masterpiece of ingenuity, incorporating many different techniques from appliqué and fabric painting to beautiful ribbon embroidery, quilting, counted thread and needlepoint. The book is sure to appeal to quilters, knitters and all embroiderers on all levels from the beginner to the advanced needlecrafter.

Carolyn calls it the Village Bag because two pretty cottages draped in wisteria and climbing roses form pockets on the front and back. On one end, Carolyn has created a needlepoint needlecase which is cleverly disguised as a beehive. On the other, there is a wonderful flowergirl with two needlepoint baskets which house a thimble and tape measure.

I know a lot of quilters who like to take their hand skills further than just machine piecing a project, and like a project that is also hand embroidered. To combine both skills really fits the bill. The Country Bumpkin Publications company has published a delightful book titled "The Embroidered Village Bag", that is an absolute surprise in it's depth of design and the huge array of stitches and gorgeous embellishments, in just about every square inch of the bag. The Country Bumpkin team are the same people that publish the world famous Inspirations magazine, so you can be sure the book is chock full of easy to understand instructions, supported by the most fabulous photographs and graphics. The Embroidered Village Bag is based on an origianl project by Carolyn Pearce, a highly respected Embroiderer from Australia. Carolyn is a frequent contrubutor to the Inspirations Magazines, and is well sort after for tuiton by embroiderers everywhere. All is not quite as it seems on this beautiful bag. There's lots of secret pockets and fittings that open out to become extra storage space for the owner. This bag has a definite three dimensional look, with lots of texture and pattern all over the piece. Each panel on the bag is made up of the most interesting designs, all very intricate and exact in their finishing. My favorite is the Bee Hives which contains pots of lavender and pansies, together with a stunning needlecase that is disguised as a beehive. I've seen this bag finished and it really is an outstanding accomplishment. I congratulate Country Bumpkin Publications on a very fine example of THE Embroiderers Bag.

I bought the embroidered village bag book by Carolyn pearce and made the bag, it came out fantastic and so big, every one that has seen it can not believe how much work has gone in to the making of the bag. I was also surprised at how big it turned out to be. I enjoyed making it. Deirdre Nell, South Africa

"Occasionally, I think it is a good idea to review books that are not about knitting, as many members do other crafts as well. This book tells you how to make a tote bag that is ideal for carrying your knitting, quilting or other craft items. No ordinary tote this, as the front and back panels show two cottages with wisteria and climbing roses around them, while one end panel features a flower girl with baskets to house a thimble and tape measure. The other ends shows a beehive which is actually a needle case. The detail is quite amazing and incorporates many different techniques such as ribbon embroidery, quilting, appliqué, counted thread and needlepoint. The instructions are very detailed and thorough, with lots of photographs and diagrams to help you. Anyone who knows that excellent Australian magazine Inspirations will be familiar with the style. This would indeed be a labour of love but what a masterpiece you would have in the end. Very tempting!!"
