I am new to smocking and was not sure of how difficult it would be. This book is written in easy to understand terms, and covers more than I thought when I initially bought it. It is very thorough and explains even the most basic terms of sewing. After looking through this book and seeing the Step by Step instructions and photos I know I can complete projects with ease. I have many books from the A-Z series and I think this has proven to be the most informative and can be used by smockers and dressmakers alike.

"If you already know how to create smocking designs, this book is the perfect complement to that knowledge. Learn how to turn smocking designs into a beautiful garment following the construction techniques detailed in clear and easy steps. The spiral bound pages allow you to flip easily through the initial pages of general information on equipment, patterns, interfacings and linings onto sewing techniques such as gathering, piping, pleating, pressing and binding. Everything is covered from sleeve puffs and hemming to tying a sash. Instructions are clearly accompanied by numbered photographs with instructions, plus hints and tips from the experts. This book is the natural follow-on from the A-Z of Smocking."

'Written for stitchers who love to smock but need to learn how to put a garment together, A-Z of Sewing for Smockers, the seventh book in the A-Z Needlework Series, covers all aspects of the construction of any garment, smocked or not, through meticulous photographs. A detailed discussion of sewing tools and fabrics, together with charts of children's standard body measurements and fabric requirements for smocked garments, make this book even more helpful.'
